FAQ Body

At the end of Year 12 you can either purchase your device from the school, or you will be required to return your device to the Tech Centre. It is important to transfer your data to a hard drive prior to returning or purchasing your device. To do this, you will need to use an external USB Hard-Drive. Once you plug in the Hard-Drive you may be asked to back up using Time Machine. DO NOT do this. This will also take school licenses and programs which will ultimately affect the data you transfer to your new device and cause issues.

It is also important to note that if you are purchasing a laptop, the Tech Centre will restore your laptop to a clean version of the latest OS X. This means you will not have school programs, for example, Microsoft Office

After plugging in your USB Hard-Drive, complete the following steps;

  1. Open Finder .
  2. Open your User Data file. This is the folder with the  icon and your Student Number.

  3. Open Edit and click on Select All.

  4. Drag the selected files onto your hard drive. This may take some time.

Note: If your User File is not showing in your Sidebar, you will need to add it.

  1. Open Finder preferences.

  2. Under Sidebar options, make sure your user is ticked.
